THE ANTI-LOWBALL PLAYBOOK
Get Paid What You're Actually Worth
Know Your Worth
This is business.

Hindi lahat ng client ay worth it. Some will drain your energy for peanuts. Learn when to say NO before pa man masasaktan ang puso mo.
- "Quick task lang" pero 10 hours pala
- "We'll pay more later" (spoiler: hindi)
- Walang clear scope pero strict sa deadline
- Comparing you sa cheaper VAs
- Asking for free "test project"

"You're too expensive" — here's exactly how to handle that WITHOUT lowering your rate. Copy-paste ready, battle-tested.

Your Rate Calculator
Sa isang 8-hour work day, P1,320-P2,200 na yan.
Negotiation Scripts
"You're too expensive"
Client says: "Your rate is too high. I found someone cheaper."
Your response:
"I understand budget is important. Here's what you're getting with my rate:
- [X] years experience in [your specialty]
- Portfolio of successful projects (link)
- Fast turnaround — same day response
- Unlimited revisions until perfect
- Proactive suggestions to improve results
Cheaper VAs exist. But consider: How many times will you replace them? How many projects will be delayed? What's the cost of rework? I'm not the cheapest, but I'm the one who delivers on time, correctly, and without headaches."
"Can you lower your rate?"
Option A — Stand Firm:
"My rate reflects my experience and the value I bring. Instead of lowering my rate, let's look at the scope. We can start with a smaller package (3 posts/week instead of 5), focus on highest-impact tasks first, or create a tiered plan that fits your budget. This way, you still get quality work within budget."
Option B — Volume Discount:
"I don't lower my hourly rate, but I can offer a package deal: Monthly retainer at 20% off vs hourly, or a 3-month commitment for an additional 10% off. This rewards long-term partnerships while maintaining value."
"We have a small budget"
"I appreciate your honesty about budget. Let me propose options:
OPTION 1: Starter Package (P25,000/month)
- 20 hours/month focused work
- Priority on highest-impact tasks
- Weekly check-ins
OPTION 2: Performance-Based (P15,000 base + komisyon sa results)
- Lower base fee for you
- Bonus based on metrics (sales, engagement, leads)
- Win-win — you save upfront, I earn based on results
Which aligns better with where you are right now?"
Upcharging Existing Clients
Scenario: You've been working with a client for 3+ months at a lower rate.
"Hey [Client Name], I've really enjoyed working with you these past [X months]. Quick update: Starting [date], I'm adjusting my rates to P[new rate]/hour (from P[old rate]).
Why the change? I've upskilled in [new tools], demand for my services has increased, and I want to deliver even better results.
Because you've been an amazing client, I'm offering you: a 30-day transition at the old rate, OR lock in P[middle rate] if we commit to a 6-month retainer.
Let me know what works best for you!"
Cold Outreach Email
Subject: Quick question about [their business/content]
"Hi [Name], I came across [their business/IG/website] and noticed [specific observation].
I specialize in [your service] and I've helped businesses like [similar niche] achieve [specific result — e.g., 3x engagement, 50+ leads/month].
I have a few ideas on how you could [specific improvement]. Would you be open to a quick 15-minute call this week? No commitment — just sharing what I see.
Best, [Your Name] | [Portfolio link]"
Follow-Up After No Reply
"Hi [Name], just following up on my message from [X days ago]. I know things get busy!
I wanted to share one quick idea for your [Instagram/email/etc.] — [brief specific tip, e.g., 'switching to Reels-first strategy could double your organic reach based on what I'm seeing in your niche'].
No pressure at all — just thought it might be helpful regardless. Happy to chat if you're open to it!
Best, [Your Name]"
Turning a "Not Now" Into a Future Client
Scenario: Client said they're not ready yet.
"Totally understand! No rush. Mind if I check back in with you in [30-60] days?
In the meantime, I'll send you a quick resource I put together for [their niche] — no strings attached. It might be helpful even if we don't work together.
Rooting for your business either way! [Your Name]"
Responding to Scope Creep
Scenario: Client keeps adding tasks outside of original agreement.
"Hey [Name]! Happy to help with [new task]. Just a heads up — this falls outside our current agreement, so I'll add it as an add-on at P[rate].
If this is going to be a regular need, we could update your package to include it — actually saves you money in the long run.
Want me to send you an updated proposal?"

Red Flag Client Checklist
I-run ang bawat potential client through this list. Tatlo o higit pang red flags? Walk away. Protecting your time and energy is part of running a profitable VA business.
"Quick task lang, 30 minutes max"
Translation: 5 hours, multiple revisions, "just one more thing"
"We'll pay more once we see results"
Translation: They'll never be satisfied. Forever "testing."
Asks for "test project" without pay
Real clients pay for your time. Period.
Compares you to cheaper VAs
"I found someone who charges $3/hr" — Good luck with that.
No clear scope or deadline
"Just make it look good" = recipe for disaster
Wants to meet "real quick" before hiring
Your consultation time is valuable. Charge for it or decline.
"We need this ASAP" pero late mag-reply
Urgent for them, not urgent for them to pay or respond.
Previous VA "disappeared"
Ask why. Usually it's because the client is the problem.
Refuses to use contract or Upwork
"Let's just do PayPal F&F" = zero protection for you
Everything is "easy" or "simple"
If it's so easy, why do they need you?
Ghosts you mid-project then comes back urgent
Your time doesn't pause when they disappear.
Gives feedback only in screenshots or voice notes
No paper trail = no accountability. Ask for written feedback.
